Hari
Raya Aidil Fitri- it can be defined as the day all Muslims around the world
will celebrate after a month fasting from dawn till Fajr. It is also known as
Hari Raya Puasa as it is the mark for the Muslim’s triumph as they can fast
through the whole month without any disturbance from their lust. For children,
it is their time to wear new “Baju Kurung” and collect “duit raya” by visiting
their neighbour’s houses with their friends. For adults, they celebrate Hari
Raya as the day to visit their relatives and to seek forgiveness from each
other.
A
couple of year before 2015, my mother already not bought the “Kuih Raya”, Kek
Raya, as she said that all of my sibling will not finished it, and it will
wasteful. So, she decided to make a new tradition which “If you want it, you
bake it!” That means, if my sibling and I want to eat Chocolate Cookies, we
have to Google the recipes, and bought the ingredients, and bake it by ourselves.
So that, it can save money and I can learn how to bake the cookies. Other than
that, my mother also will make one of my favourite food, Colourful Tapai.
Before she cooked it, she will sink the sticky rice into two colour water which
orange and pink each. Then, after 3 hours sink it, my mom will steam it on the
stove until the rice turn to sticky rice. Next, after finished it, she will put
out and place it on the tray so easy for her to scatter the yeast on the sticky
rice. And hours later, she will put in the small container. Usually, my
grandmother will pack it in “daun pisang” or “daun getah”, but my mom just
packet it in the cute and smaller container so my brother can eat it using
colourful small spoon.
On
the first Shawal, I will wake up early so that I can help my mother to prepare
the delicious dishes while all boys went to mosque to perform “Solat Sunat Hari
Raya” like Nasi Dagang, Ketupat, Tapai, Cookies and so on. After an hours, they
went back home and I prepared it for them. After that, we went to burial ground
to “visit” my grandfather and my uncle. We also clean it by removes all the
dead grass and read Ya Siin for them. We went back home after finished it. He drove
us to Pasir Mas, Kelantan which it was located my grandparent’s mother. My
father wants my sibling and I visit our grandparent so that we will know our
relatives.
In
conclusion, Hari Raya is not the only day to celebrate our triumph after a
month fasting but it is also the day to strengthen family bond through family.
